Tour Down Under – 2018 Family Fun Day
A Sunday function has been organized to coincide with the TDU each year.
Initially it was a large fundraising event with a lunch/drinks package for $120/person. They were well supported but relied on guests from outside the Alumni
For the past few years it’s been a ‘non-fundraising’ family day, with activities for the kids and open to the public. Admittance is $10 with a barbequeue and bar available. These days are also well attended
The 2018 Family Fun Day will be announced as soon as the dates and the routes for the 2018 Tour Down Under cycling race are confirmed
Spring Cocktail Function – 2017
The first one was held in October 2015 and was very successful attracting around 100 guests, mainly recent Alumni (up to 30 year old). Tickets were $40 for food and music and people purchased drinks. There was a modest profit ($800) and feedback was very positive
No Spring Cocktail function was held in 2016, but there is one planned for 2017.
The time and date for the 2017 Spring Cocktail function will be announced soon
Held in June 2015, the $150 Black Tie event was organized to raise much needed funds for College projects and to recognise the achievements of several distinguished Alumni.
The significant career achievements of the following alumni were celebrated on the night, each presented with an Aquinas Medal:
- PROFESSOR DAVID J DAVID AC
- ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR ELIZABETH LEANE
- HON JUSTICE KEVIN DUGGAN AM QC RFD
- MS HELEN McCABE
While it was a very successful evening, it was time consuming preparation for an already busy College staff.
It was decided to hold this event every three or four years.
2019 is the 70th year of Aquinas College and is likely the key milestone for the next major event as the Alumni committee and key contacts are established, regular alumni communications maintained and database contact details improved.
