Aquinas College, a Catholic university residential college in North Adelaide, is seeking a vibrant Youth Minister with excellent interpersonal skills to join our Campus Ministry Team on a part-time basis.Aquinas is home to 185 undergraduate students, mostly from rural and regional areas, who are studying at one of Adelaide’s universities. It is governed by the Archdiocese of Adelaide and forms part of the Catholic educational community of South Australia.
Working out of the Campus Ministry office in the heart of our college, the successful candidate would be a positive presence around college, connecting with our 185 university students and promoting a range of pastoral and ministry initiatives, motivated by their genuine and active Catholic faith.
As a member of the Campus Ministry Team, the Youth Minister is responsible for joint planning and delivery of the College’s faith and ministry activities. The successful candidate would work to support the College Chaplain (responsible for leading liturgy), the student Outreach Coordinators, the student ministry team and Chapel band.
They would also play a key role in connecting students with the wider opportunities offered by the Catholic youth network, promoting faith-based events and service opportunities as they arise. They would report to the Vice-Rector and maintain a good working relationship with the Dean of Student Life.
The position would suit a person of faith and compassion, who understands the lives of university students and relates easily with them, and who can bring imagination and skill to offer young people a pathway to ‘life in all its fullness’ (cf. Jn.10:10). While there is flexibility for the successful candidate to choose the hours they work, there is an understanding that these hours will fall mainly within the university semester and may include working in the evening.
