Christmas Message from the Rector

December 8, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The final days of the College year remind us that Christmas is close! With sparkling lights, cosy weather (where is the summer heat in 2022???), and beautifully decorated trees all around, it’s the time to be merry. The spirit of Christmas binds everyone together and it’s that special time of year when people endeavour to show their love to others by sharing gifts or by being more patient, kind and forgiving. For Catholics, we remember and rejoice in the birth of our Saviour Jesus. His birth signals that God came to be amongst us, to help us and to encourage us.
Throughout this year, our students have sought to embrace life as they strive to rise and respond to the challenges that College and their University set. That challenge, to be the best they can as they nurture their faith and inspire their learning and personal growth. Our young students do an amazing job, whether it is academic, spiritual, artistic, sporting, musical, community-oriented or social, and I thank them for their contributions to Aquinas and congratulate them on another successful year.

As this year wraps up, I wish you all the joys and blessings that Christmas brings. The birth of Jesus renews our hope in realising God’s plan for each of us. It is a special time as family and friends get together. Let us focus on the quality of the giving not the quality of the gift, as we remember those who are less fortunate and may not have family or friends to share the spirit of Christmas.

Lastly, I hope your travels over the holidays will be safe and enjoyable and may the festive season bring much joy for you and your family.

Best wishes, Happy Christmas and may you have a happy, healthy and successful New Year!
