Aquinas Ball

One of the favourite events of the Aquinas College calendar is the Annual Ball which was held on Saturday 29th July at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

With Caitlin Bettess at the helm of the Ball Committee, a Bollywood theme was chosen and the students were delighted with the bright and colourful invitations designed by Caitlin.  Students gathered for pre-dinner nibbles at College and it was a wonderful sight to see our young men attired in their suits along with the girls looking delightful in a myriad of evening dresses. Morgan McCallum (College Photographer) was on hand capturing the elegance and excitement of the evening before the students made their way to the ball venue.

The committee members, particularly Hannah, Kiara, Erin, Hamish, Genna, and also assisted by Jayce and Nathan, either decorated the tables with gold runners, an eclectic collection of crystal vases as candle holders and vibrant coloured serviettes or helped with the behind the scene logistics.

The talented Katie Miller, an acoustic guitarist played popular covers whilst the students enjoyed a main course of red wine, balsamic & rosemary braised lamb shanks, accompanied by braised shallots and olives, feta, asparagus and finished with pan jus.  Dessert followed which was a triple chocolate gateau with toffee shards and berry compote, which finished off the meal perfectly.

As the Head of the Ball Committee, Caitlin then made a speech and announced the winners of those who were not only the best dressed, but also imbued the Aquinas spirit. The recipients Charlie Muecke (Pt Lincoln), Eliza Smith (Whyalla) and Sheridan Rosalie (also from Whyalla) received a rousing applause.

The evening was well supported by the current cohort along with former students who had the opportunity to mingle with their Aquinian friends.  SA Life Magazine also attended with photographs of the Aquinas Ball appearing in the September edition.
