New College Rector announced
The new Rector of Aquinas, to take over from Brother Michael in July this year, will be Sean Brito.
The announcement was made on Tuesday 18 January by the Chair of the College Council, Professor Christopher Symes.
In sharing this news with the College community, Professor Symes said that the Council was highly pleased to have appointed someone of the experience and competence of Mr Brito to succeed Brother Michael.
“Aquinas is in such a strong position at the present time due in no small measure to the outstanding leadership that Brother Michael has given as Rector. We are confident that Mr Brito will be able to maintain and to build on this.”
Mr Brito has recently completed ten years as Principal of Mannix College, at Monash University in Melbourne. Previous to that role, he was Head of John XXIII College at the ANU in Canberra, and Master of St Albert’s College at UNE in Armidale. He has also held senior roles in three other university colleges and halls of residence, including as Dean at Flinders Hall here in Adelaide where he also completed his undergraduate studies in microbiology and medical science.
Sean is married Sara, a senior lecturer in Occupational Therapy. They have two sons, one of whom is in secondary school and one at university.
Professor Symes said that whole College community looks forward to welcoming Mr Brito and his family to Aquinas later this year.
