Pondshow voted a huge success
As this major event on the Aquinas social calendar had to be cancelled last year because of COVID, there was much anticipation around Pondshow 2021. Most students in the College had never attended a Pondshow, including almost all the Student Club Executive who were organising the evening.
Student President, Ruby Yates, couldn’t have more pleased with the way things went.
‘Everyone seemed to have had a great night,’ said Ruby. ‘We were wondering how everything would play out with our having to restrict numbers to 450 but, actually, many people thought that this made for an even better event.’
‘Tickets sold out in just a couple of days, and most were grabbed by current Aquinians, exxies and friends, so that helped the atmosphere of the night.’
She said that, ironically enough, the COVID restrictions probably helped to make it a better night.
‘We had to do some things differently and to think outside the square, but the smaller footprint and tight organisation helped to create a memorable night.
Students attributed the success of night also to the quality of the bands – both those on the main stage, headlined by The Grogans from Melbourne, and also those who performed on the acoustic stage.
Ruby was full of praise for her team, and the way that they all pitched in to plan and prepare.
‘Both the SClub Exec and all the HCs really got around the whole event,’ said Ruby.
