Outreach Report

By far our biggest Outreach effort this year has been the “World’s Greatest Shave” night, held during Term 1. As a collective group, the Aquinas College World’s Greatest Shave team raised an extraordinary $4638.70.  A huge thankyou goes to Sam Kent, Zac Ingles, Josh Morrow, Matt Smith and Lachie Haddow for participating.

In Term 2 we held “The Sleep Out”, an outdoor event to raise money for Hutt St Centre. Whilst held on an incredibly cold and wet night, the event was well supported by a large contingent of College students who enjoyed a night without technology. Approximately $1000 was raised on this night so congratulations to all who participated.

Students were also involved with the “Ration Challenge”, when they ate only the same quantity of food of a Syrian Refugee for one week. We also had the “Live Below the Line Challenge”, which required students to live off only $2 per day over for 5 days. Congratulations to everyone for putting themselves up for such an extreme and intense challenge.

For many years Aquinas College students have helped collect money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service on their “Badge Day” and this year, students collected over $1500.

Following tradition, we already have many students who donate blood and to date students have volunteered over 80 hours of outreach service to the Red Cross and those in need.

One of the joys of being an Aquinian is the help we give back to the community. Keep up the good work everybody, your help never goes unnoticed.
