Where are they now? Aquinians around the world
We caught up this week with Patrick Black, who was at Aquinas from 2015 – 2017, studying Business at UniSA. Patrick runs a successful digital marketing agency, as well as a vegan protein powder brand – Pure Plant Protein. After doing an exchange in the USA as part of his degree, Paddy has taken his work around the world. We asked him a few questions about what he’s currently up to:
Where are you now, and what are you up to? I’m currently in London for the summer, running my ecom brands remotely. One of the perks of my career is being able to work anywhere I can get an internet connection!
Where has your journey taken you since leaving Aquinas? After Aquinas, I learnt digital marketing skills at an agency in Adelaide for a few years before branching out on my own. Once I had a bit of steady money coming in, I set off overseas for a few years, travelling and working as I went. Now I love finding the balance between my career (current work, future opportunities), my interests (music, travel) and my wellbeing (relationships, health) each day. And remembering to have fun along the way!
What was your favourite Aquinas memory? Music nights were some of my favourite times at Aquinas, hearing all the great talent and getting comfy being on stage. And winning HTC, of course.
How do you think your time at Aquinas shaped your journey? It gave me friends for life and helped the transition from my hometown to the city easier. Even now, 10 years on(!!), you feel a part of a community of Aquinas collegians and alumni.
Any advice or tips? Plan for the future, and learn from the past, but don’t spend too long looking at either. The only thing that’s real is this very moment right now!
