HTC Boys Football

The boys team coached by Kieren Reynolds and Harry Walters were made up by seniors hungry to win 3 years in a row and freshers who soon learnt the hard work required to perfect a winning Aquinas Football team.

Skipping through to round two, the boys played against Flinders. The team came out with a strong work rate and unrelenting effort until the final siren. This was reflected on the scoreboard with the boys posting a very convincing 190-6 and making it very clear a high standard indeed had been set.

The Grand Final draw was a rematch of the previous year with the team now having to play against St Ann’s. Knowing this game would be much tougher than the last, the boys trained hard all week to ensure moral and preparation were as high as possible. The boys team again came out ready for any challenge and were ball hungry from the first centre bounce.

The team were fast paced and very agile and the centre was dominated by fresher Jonty Inglis who combined well with Adam Proud in the ruck. Che Lange, another fresher showed his skill and pace from the wing having consistent performances in both weeks. Matt Parslow booted goals from all over the ground and his experience was invaluable to the other players. Both coaches showed leadership on the field and played solid games with Lucas Martin who backed up with another game showcasing his ability all over the ground.

Leading from the start the boys powered on with endeavour and momentum, posting a magnificent 131-9 on the scoreboard.  An ecstatic crowd cheered the jubilant, winning team with our boys now HTC Football Champions three years in a row after yet another dominating victory.

HTC Football was again a hectic but very enjoyable time of year for every Aquinan and the wins in both the girls and boys football has fortified our campaign with the ultimate aim of being be back to back HTC Champions. (article by Eliza Boulton)
