Aquinas Ball

The issue of the elegant invitations for the Aquinas Ball to be held on Saturday 30th July, set the tone for one of the highly anticipated events of the annual calendar.

Students gathered together for pre-dinner canapes and drinks at College, with the girls resplendent in an array of fashionable dress styles whilst the boys were dashing in their suit attire.

Buses then transported everybody to the nearby Adelaide Convention Centre and all were impressed when the venue room doors opened to reveal round tables set in College colours with formal place settings creating an understated yet refined ambience.

Once everyone was seated a very talented young lady provided the perfect musical entertainment, playing acoustic guitar and singing popular cover songs that were well received and at times, students enthusiastically broke into song and clapped in spontaneous appreciation.

The chosen set menu did not disappoint with a gourmet main course of chargrilled beef tenderloin with a slow braised short rib, duck fat potatoes, caponata, baby carrots and a tarragon infused jus. The ensuing dessert was visually spectacular with a dome of triple chocolate gateau with toffee chards, piped meringue and berry compote. It completed what can only be described as a delectable meal savoured and enjoyed by all, with the waiters ensuring a seamless delivery of table service.

The Student Club President, Stella Cox and the chief organiser of the event, Georgina Brooks who did an amazing job, both made brief speeches and then students congregated on the dance floor continuing to enjoy the live music. Later in the evening the tempo changed with a DJ cranking up the volume until the conclusion of a memorable night.
