Aquinas claims the netball double

Both the women’s and men’s Aquinas netball teams have gone undefeated through this year’s tournament, each of them winning a thrilling final in decisive style.

The much coveted “doublé” came despite some COVID-interrupted preparation, with some players and coaches affected in the lead-up. Co-coach of both teams, Marni Clark, thought that both playing groups were able to overcome these challenges through their depth of skill and their ability to click as teams.

“Try-outs were really well attended, and team selection was difficult, especially for the girls where there is just so much experience,” said Marni.

She, and fellow coaches Oscar Peltz and Maggie Phillips, also highlighted the enthusiastic support that the teams enjoyed over the two days. For the first time in 2022, COVID restrictions were loosened to allow spectators to attend, and Aquinians were there in large numbers and full voice.

“Not only did Aquinas prevail on the court, but we also had the largest and loudest group of supporters on the sidelines.”

The HTC competition continues after Easter, first with Debating, and then in May the much-anticipated Football.
