Collegiate Dinner celebrates 2024 achievements

The Collegiate Dinner to celebrate the results of high-achieving students from Semester 2, 2024 was held on Saturday 1 March 2025. Special guests joining students and staff at the Collegiate Dinner and Awards ceremony included the SA Director of Catholic Education SA, Dr Neil McGoran, Partner School representatives Principal of Samaritan College and member of the College Council, Mr Damien Judd, Principal of St Joseph’s College, Port Lincoln, Ms Catherine Gurr and Business Manager of Tenison Woods College, Mr Neal Turley and Aquinas College Councillors, Chair of Council Ms Joanne Sawyer, Deputy Chair Ms. Kate Critchley and Council member, Mr. Vincent Kain.

Faculty Prizes went to Chelsea Hawkins (Nursing), Joseph McNamara (Engineering), Maeve Bylsma (Medicine), Luke Donohue ( Commerce), Abigail O’Sullivan  (Allied Health), Drew Baker( Arts), George Wilson( Law) and Toby Casanova (Education)

Special Prizes were presented as follows:

Fr Michael Scott Prize for the top returning junior: Maeve Bylsma

Brother Austin Stephens Prize: top returning senior: Abigail O’Sullivan

Father C.P. Finn Prize for top returning fourth year student: Joseph McNamara

Whilst the Academic Awards were a feature of the evening, the Acting Head of College, Dr Sarah Moller, delivered an entertaining speech, revisiting the first Collegiate Dinner, 75 years ago, wherein Fr Cornelius Finn, the first Rector, was challenged by joints of meat versus oven dimensions! Dr Moller also spoke about the academic journey of the College, highlighting the outstanding results again of Aquinas students in 2024 with one third of students achieving a Distinction or High Distinction average and a further 40% achieving a credit average.
