HTC Table Tennis
HTC Table Tennis was held on Thursday 10th of October at Lincoln College. As the penultimate HTC sport for 2024, positions on this year’s squad were highly contested, with a large number of Aquinian’s attending tryouts. Following an impressive display from all that attended the trials, a more than competitive team was chosen. Our first opponents for the evening were Flinders, where we came away with a 4-1 overall win. Maeve Bylsma displayed her class in the Women’s A singles, winning three sets to nil. Moving onto our next game against Lincoln, we unfortunately went down in the rubber five to nil. Although not a true refection of how everyone played, Lincoln went on to be the eventual winners. Next up, St Ann’s. With most games going down to the wire, they narrowly took away a 4-1 win. Well done to Nash Richman who fought his way back from one set down to win a nail bitter in the Men’s B game. Going into the final game against St Mark’s, each player knew how important it was to come out on top. For this final game, Montana Foster came in to blitz the Women’s B singles, along with Tyson Darley putting on a show alongside Abigail O’Sullivan in mixed doubles to help the team come away with a 4-1 total win . Overall, Aquinas finished the night in 3rd place which is no mean feat. A big shout goes out to Dannen Blacker who worked tirelessly all-night in the Men’s A singles, and although he only won one game, he showed plenty of ticker and heart. Congratulations to Chelsea Hawkins and Nash for being the Table Tennis sport champions for 2024!
