O Week voted huge success
The new academic year has bounced off with energy, purpose, fun, and loads of good will.
Student President for 2022, Noah Waters, couldn’t have been more pleased with the way that O Week unfolded.
‘All our planning and preparation has paid off so well,’ said Noah. ‘We have a really positive and friendly group of new Aquinians, and they’ve really got around all that we had planned for them this week.’
One of the features of O Week at Aquinas, according to Noah, is that it is planned carefully and collaboratively with the senior staff of the College, the Academic Team, the House Coordinators, the Campus Ministry Team, and the Student Club Executive all working together.
This means that the week is a balance of serious education and training, preparation for academic study, outreach and community service, sports, social and fun events, and important moments such as the Welcome Service and the Collegiate Dinner.
‘Our aims are to have new students feel welcome and at ease, to help them prepare for the year ahead, and to build our community for this year,’ explained Noah.
College Rector, Brother Michael, has also been impressed with the new members of the Aquinas family.
‘We seem to have attracted a group of outstanding young people,’ he said. ‘They are friendly, positive, keen for their studies, and they have quickly settled into college life. I am confident that they will make quite a contribution to Aquinas this year and in the years ahead.’
